The Brownstone Poets presents two Brevitas poets Judy Kamilhor and Zev Shanken on Tuesday, October 18 at 7 p.m. at Tillie's of Brooklyn. Brevitas is an on-line community of invited poets who email one to two original poems (14 lines max) to the group on the 1st and the 15th of each month. Come to Tillie's of Brooklyn and enjoy the quaint student-friendly café ambiance located near Pratt and St. Joseph's College. There's an open-mic as well.
Brooklyn, NY, September 14, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Brownstone Poets presents two Brevitas poets Judy Kamilhor and Zev Shanken on Tuesday, October 18 at 7 p.m. at Tillie's of Brooklyn. Brevitas is an on-line community of invited poets who email one to two original poems (14 lines max) to the group on the 1st and the 15th of each month. This group holds an annual reading and book release party at The Bowery Poetry Club. Brevitas’ founders are poets Jim Pignetti and Steve Zeitlin, founder and executive director of City Lore.
Come to Tillie's of Brooklyn and enjoy the quaint student-friendly café ambiance located near Pratt and St. Joseph's College. Feast on gourmet sandwiches, delectable cakes, pies, and cookies. Juice and soda are available. Relax with a either a cup of coffee or herbal tea while listening to great poetry. There’s an open-mic as well. Poetry does grow in Ft. Greene, Brooklyn.

Bios:
Other than her recent foray into Sestinas, Judy Kamilhor primarily writes micropoetry. Her influences are the Japanese haiku masters and the comedian Steven Wright. She is a member of brevitas and a frequent contributor to CLWN WR. She has been published in Simply Haiku, Haiku Harvest, Amaze: the Cinquain Journal, and other publications. One of her poems was chosen for the Haiku Showcase by the World Haiku Club. Please check out her blogs. Her micropoetry blog is http://kamihaiku.blogspot.com. Recently Zev Shanken's poems have been about aging, parents, sex and Jews. He teaches English at High School for Health Careers and Sciences in Washington Heights, and at Bronx Community College. In 1995 Blue Begonia Press published his chapbook, Al Het. He is a happy member of Brevitas, an on-line poetry workshop devoted to the short poem. He lives in Teaneck, NJ. At his reading at Tillies on October18, Zev will present Choral Poems in which the audience will be given texts to read responsively, like at church or synagogue or chain gang.
