Constance A. Howes Named "Leader to Know"
Providence, RI, September 16, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Constance A. Howes, president and chief executive officer of Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island has been named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s list, “291 Hospital and Health System Leaders to Know” which recognizes individuals leading prominent American health care organizations.
According to Becker’s Hospital Review, “Armed with impressive accomplishments, extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of the health care industry, these men and women continue to guide their respective organizations through change and innovation.” Leaders were selected for inclusion on this list based on nominations, inclusion in previous Becker’s Hospital Review lists, and research conducted by the Becker’s editorial team.

Ms. Howes has been president and CEO of Women & Infants Hospital since 2002, where she has also served as executive vice president and chief operating officer. Prior to that, she was vice president and general counsel for Care New England Health System, the health system comprised of Women & Infants Hospital, Kent Hospital and Butler Hospital. Before joining Women & Infants, Ms. Howes was an attorney with Tillinghast, Collins & Graham for 17 years where she practiced primarily in the area of business law and served as chairman of the Corporate Department.
Ms. Howes is chair of the Governor’s Workforce Board and the Innovation Providence Implementation Committee, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce and the Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council, a member of the Board of Directors of Day One, Roger Williams University School of Law and the Providence Economic Development Partnership, a member of Providence College President’s Council, the Rhode Island Commodores and past member of the American Hospital Association Regional Policy Board 1 and a past member and past chair of the American Hospital Association Maternal Child Health Governing Council. She served on the National Institutes of Health Advisory Committee on Women’s Health Research and is active with CWISH, the Council of Women and Infants Specialty Hospitals.
Ms. Howes graduated magna cum laude from Kenyon College and received her J.D. degree from the University of Virginia School of Law.
