The audit goes more in-depth than the Type I audit previously performed (see http://www.amerivault.com/news/index.php?id=P168), including additional testing over a period of time and an evaluation known as the Service Auditor’s Report that is created by a certified accounting firm.
Statement on Auditing Standards (SAS) No. 70, specific to “Service Organizations,” is an internationally recognized auditing standard developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). A SAS 70 Type II audit or service auditor's examination is widely recognized, because it represents that a service organization has been through an in-depth audit of their control activities, including organization and management, physical security and logical, vault operations, client services team and software application.
