BT Chooses Perle Terminal Servers for Remote Access and Management of LDUs
BT’s deployment of Perle IOLAN Terminal Servers for remote access and management of LDUs in over 2400 Telco Exchanges throughout the UK result in faster and cheaper residential phone line support.
Nashville, TN, September 17, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Perle Systems, a global provider of advanced serial to Ethernet and secure device networking solutions, announces that BT chose Perle IOLAN Terminal Servers to provide remote access and management of Loop Diagnostic Units (LDUs) in thousands of Telephone Exchanges across the UK.
In conjunction with replacing an old X.25 network with IP Ethernet, BT was in need of a product that would provide a direct IP connection to remote LDUs in over 2400 Telco Exchanges throughout the UK. This would enable BT to communicate with the exchanges at a much higher speed, allowing them to service their customers more efficiently and quickly than before.
After extensive testing, Perle IOLAN Terminal Servers were chosen because they met all of BT’s stringent requirements including:
Dual Feed 48v DC power. In the event the primary power source is depleted, the IOLAN Terminal Server pulls power from the secondary source and is able to switch back and forth as necessary, thereby ensuring continuous operation.
BT “Safe to Connect” Standards: A series of security and testing requirements more stringent than normal Telco standards would require.
Local UK based sales and technical support.
“Perle technology has been enabling network administrators to access the serial ports on telecommunications equipment for more than two decades,” says Joe Perle, CEO Perle Systems. “Telcos and their suppliers around the globe, like Alcatel-Lucent, Telefonica, Orange, Verizon and AT&T, use Perle Terminal Servers because of their sophisticated authentication and security features. We are pleased to add BT to our list of satisfied customers who require a complete in-band and out-of-band management tool with a remote access path for when the network is down.”
