Bangkok, Thailand, September 18, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Rembrandt Hotel proudly hosted the Youth Career Development Program's (YCDP) 17th batch of students in the 2011 Graduation Ceremony, UNICEF’s life-changing project, at the Rembrandt ballroom on Tuesday September 14th.
The event began with a welcome speech from Rembrandt’s General Manager, Eric Hallin, and followed with a thank you speech from Jacqui Cutberthson, Pan Pacific’s General Manager, the hotel that initiated the project.
In attendance were Khun Khwankeo Vajarodaya, President of the Rajaprajanugroh Foundation, UNICEF’s representative Robert Grass, Rembrandt’s General Manager Eric Hallin, Pan Pacific’s General Manager Jacqui Cutberthson, the Salesian sisters, representatives of the ministry of education and representatives of 16 participating hotels in Bangkok and other provinces.
Youth Career Development Program (YCDP) 2011 will assist in providing long-term social and economic security, innovative life skills and occupational development for students in the hospitality industry. According to UNICEF, the program has successfully facilitated skills training and employment opportunities for nearly 1,000 disadvantaged young women from poor families, particularly in the North and Northeast of Thailand.
After completing the intensive training at the participating hotels, all 19 young trainees have a better understanding of skills in the hospitality industry. Khun Yanee Tamun, a trainee at the Rembrandt, has greatly improved her skills in F&B and Housekeeping after 5 months training.
“I am very proud to come this far. Although the time has been quite short, I am glad to have this opportunity. Thanks Rembrandt Hotel and UNICEF for all of support,” Yanee said.
Rembrandt Hotel is honored to support the Youth Career Development Program as a part of its social responsibility efforts to provide future generations with the long term educational and occupational opportunities to grow.
