Onity Announces New Wireless Lock
Utilizing an open architecture interface, the new locking solution provides a cost-effective method to secure facilities
Bradenton, FL, September 21, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Onity announces the introduction of its latest locking solution, the Onity Wireless Lock (OWL). Employing the new Onity Partner Enterprise Network (OPEN) program, third-party access control software providers can easily integrate with the OWL lock using its open architecture interface. This integration provides a cohesive and economical method of securing facility locations which were previously cost-prohibitive due to the traditional cost of wired panels. Onity, one of the world’s leading providers of electronic locking solutions, is a business of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).
“The OPEN program offers our customers a cost-effective solution to secure and control access to additional doors from within their existing access control platform,” said Onity President, Laird Hamberlin. “The OWL lock can save customers up to 70% compared to some wired access systems.”
Available in wireless and offline versions, the OWL lock helps to facilitate decision making at the lock by using an intelligent on-board database. The OWL lock is designed to be modular; allowing for upgrades to be installed easily in the field. With wireless communication, users have the ability to make updates without physical contact to the lock, as well as receive reports on critical events in real-time.
The OWL lock can be easily upgraded to various reader types – HID iClass, MIFARE Classic®, 125 KHz Prox and Magstripe – and from offline to wireless with minimal modification to the lock utilizing most of the existing hardware in order to minimize cost to the customers. Reader changes can be performed in less than five minutes, while wireless upgrades are as simple as removing the trim panel, mounting the wireless antenna, pushing a button, and re-installing the trim panel.
For a live demonstration of the Onity Wireless Lock, visit booth 1501 at the ASIS tradeshow in Orlando, FL, September 19-21.
