Europcar Encourages Its Australian Customers to be "Green" Drivers by Promoting Its Fleet of Eco-Friendly Cars Online
Europcar, one of Australia’s most popular car rental companies and a key player in sustainable development in its sector, has launched a new eco-friendly section on it’s Australian website which highlights its fleet of green cars.
Tullamarine, Australia, September 23, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Europcar is pursuing its green initiatives in favour of the environment. The new eco-friendly section will provide maximum visibility to its greener cars and will encourage consumers to choose more environmentally friendly options when making reservations. Europcar’s eco-friendly fleet includes vehicles with CO2 emissions of less than 140 grams per km.
In addition to having a new section dedicated to eco-friendly cars, specific information is available on CO2 emissions for all models of its car rental fleet. The European energy rating system from A to G is given with the description of each vehicle, the greenest of which is labelled “eco-friendly.” Europcar has also committed to plans to introduce electric vehicles to the overall fleet when the infrastructure becomes available.
This eco-friendly initiative is part of Europcar’s commitment to protecting the environment. A pioneer in this sector, Europcar opened its first eco-friendly agency in Paris in 1999. It was the first company to develop an Environmental Charter certified by Bureau Veritas in 2008.
In recognition of the importance of reducing carbon emissions, Europcar Australia launched a carbon emissions reduction program in December 2006. The program is offered in partnership with Greenfleet, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping the community reduce the environmental impact of travel, business and lifestyle choices by adopting low-carbon alternatives and biosequestration.
Europcar was also named the World’s Leading Green Transport Solution Company at the 2010 World Travel Awards ceremony.
