New Media Drivers License Course “ADV 420” Kicks Off at Michigan State University
Leading New Media Training Course at MSU Kicks of Fall 2011 Semester at Walsh College, Saturday, September 24
Ann Arbor, MI, September 24, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The New Media Drivers License seminar starts this Saturday, September 24th, at Walsh College in Novi, MI. Teaching the class is Ingenex Digital Marketing’s CEO, Derek Mehraban, who will be assisted by Google’s Michal Lorenc. The class is overseen by MSU Advertising, PR, and Retailing Chairperson and MSU Professor, Jef Richards, PhD.
The class meets twice a semester in person, and students complete their work online through a custom Drupal website (http://newmediadl.cas.msu.edu/) which helps students gain a better understanding of how to grasp and utilize Internet marketing.
The class offers a variety of topics, including some of the most innovative tools used by digital marketing agencies (http://ingenexdigital.com/) today. By the end of the semester, if students apply themselves, they will know how to navigate through social media networks and blogs, while learning how to listen and participate in online conversations. The rules of public relations will be explored, and students will learn how to become part of the online community.
Ingenex CEO Mehraban and Google Executive Lorenc, both digital professionals in the Ann Arbor area, will also teach students about Google and how search engine optimization (http://ingenexdigital.com/services/search-engine-optimization) works. Students will have the ability to use Google AdWords and Google +, while learning how to develop their own digital marketing strategy for a company.
“In my third year of teaching this course, I am still as excited as I was the first year,” commented course co-creator, Derek Mehraban. “This is a great opportunity for students wanting to explore new media marketing and learn how social media impacts business. It’s perfect for those wishing to pursue a career in digital marketing. In fact, many MSU graduates have gotten jobs as a result of getting their New Media Drivers License. Professionals also take the course to brush up on new media skills and enhance their professional careers.”
Besides the excitement of the upcoming class, a new website has been designed for the New Media Drivers License course. Through the website, one can learn more about the professors, see course examples, and read testimonials from ADV 420 alumni. The new media education (http://newmediadl.cas.msu.edu/) site is another resource for those looking to retrieve the latest information about the Internet, and find out what top digital marketing agencies believe to be the most efficient and result-driven tools on the Internet.
The course also helped launch a new book by Richard T. Cole, MSU Professor, and Derek Mehraban, CEO of Ingenex Digital Marketing, that will be out late 2011 and is titled “New Media Drivers License.” The new book will utilize the best of the web to provide a definitive New Media Resource Guide for students and professionals looking to move into digital marketing and new media.
