Multi-Host Monitoring is Introduced in the New Release of EMCO Ping Monitor
EMCO announces a new release of the Ping Monitor tool for Windows, which offers monitoring of connection to multiple hosts in a local network or the Internet. The new version is available both in freeware and commercial editions.
Reykjavik, Iceland, September 30, 2011 --(PR.com)-- EMCO Software, a provider of software solutions for computer network management, announced a release of EMCO Ping Monitor, version 4, featuring the option of simultaneous monitoring of connections to multiple hosts. From this version on, the Ping Monitor utility is available both in free and commercial editions that differ in their sets of features. The free edition is limited to monitoring connections with up to five hosts. The commercial edition does not have such limitations as to the number of monitored hosts and provides additional features that are not available in the free edition.
Ping Monitor is a Windows utility with a graphical user interface that can be used by IT staff to monitor connections to remote hosts and their states. The utility sends regular pings to network hosts at a customizable interval and analyzes the replies to detect statuses of the connections. Operations with multiple network hosts are performed independently in parallel. The total number of hosts that can be monitored using the Professional version of Ping Monitor is limited by the hardware performance of the PC where the application is started. Using a typical office PC, it is possible to monitor about 1000 hosts.
The utility offers advanced notification features. Administrators can configure Ping Monitor to send notifications on various events, including connection loss or restore and other detected connections state changes. Administrators can be notified by e-mail, SMS through the e-mail-to- SMS service, if supported by their mobile operator, a Windows Tray message and a sound alert. Notification messages are customizable and can be changed to include the required text and relevant information. Besides, the utility sends regular statistics reports that include information about the connection health during the recent time period and the entire monitoring time.
"The Ping Monitor utility can help network administrators not only to detect a problem immediately after it occurs, but also to use custom tools in order to resolve the problem automatically. The utility offers features that allow executing external applications, commands or scripts when particular events, such as connection loss or restore, occur. External handlers can be used to resolve connection problems or to notify other systems or services of the problem. It allows Ping Monitor to integrate with other tools and services in a network management infrastructure," Thorarinn Oskarsson, CEO at EMCO Software, said.
