Growlers Pour House to Host Charlotte Oyster Roast October 16th
On October 16th, Growlers Pour House will again block off its back parking lot to host another festive Oyster Roast including local Charlotte bands, “beer food” and craft beer – in support of JDRF.
Charlotte, NC, October 01, 2011 --(PR.com)-- On October 16th, Growlers Pour House will again block off its back parking lot to host another festive Oyster Roast. The local pub – which stands out as one of Draft Magazine’s Top 100 Best Beer Bars – also serves oysters on the half shell on its regular menu, making it a natural fit for the event.
The timely autumn Roast will kick off at 1pm on Sunday October 16th and go until 7pm with live music from several local Charlotte bands playing throughout the day. With a variety of food being served including housemade brats/sausages, fries, oysters, pretzels and clam chowder, it will also be a great chance to try some craft beer.
The event is bittersweet for the NoDa establishment as it is being held in memory of, and in celebration of, the life of Drew Hawkins. As with the January Oyster Roast held at Growlers, this event will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) – an organization very familiar to Hawkins as a Type 1 Diabetic himself.
“We’re excited to host another Oyster Roast to benefit JDRF, it just comes with a sad note for all of us. Drew was a big part of our family here, and we miss him everyday,” says Owner Jeff Tonidandel. “If you ever had the chance to meet him, you’d know he was a kind, generous, passionate person – and someone to remember very fondly.”
Tickets for the Oyster Roast can be purchased in advance for just $10 – which includes one drink voucher (worth $3) and one food voucher (worth $3). Day-of tickets will be on sale for $15. To purchase tickets, stop in Growlers Pour House – 3120 N. Davidson Street Charlotte, NC 28205.
