Corporate partner and media sponsor Comcast is awarding the XFINITY Red Apron at several Atlanta area food festivals, including the Atlanta Bar-B-Que Festival. Three area restaurants are donating items, ranging from food tastings to gift certificates. The list of the participating Atlanta area restaurants include: BBQ Masters in Riverdale, Hottie Hawgs BBQ and Five Star Barbeque Company.

“We will be competing and serving our pulled pork, brisket and ribs,” says Matt of Hottie Hawgs. And speaking of the Brisket “It is smoked over 16 hours over a mesquite cherry blend…it takes a long time to perfect!”

“Our motto is Best Ribs, Best Sauce, Best Food. Period,” adds Eric Smith of BBQ Masters in Riverdale, GA. “We’re best known for our 226 sauce. It is called that because it has 226 total ingredients in it…it is the best formula in the world.”

“Comcast is a proud supporter of community events including the Atlanta Bar-B-Q Festival and we are very excited to introduce the Red Apron Award promotion this year,” said Taylor Nipper, director of marketing for Comcast’s Atlanta region. “The Red Apron Award will offer some very exciting exclusive prizes on top of one of the best food events around,” added Nipper.

“Last year we were overwhelmed by the turnout and the demand at the festival and we have been working to build an even better event for 2011,” says event founder/Atlanta BBQ Club President Bob Herndon. “We are bringing in more of Atlanta’s Top BBQ restaurants featuring traditional southern BBQ as well as some more exotic international BBQ flavors. We have also restructured the People’s Choice Award to allow more competing teams the opportunity to serve up samples of their own Championship styled BBQ to BBQ enthusiasts. If you like BBQ, this is the place to be.”

Anyone can register to win the XFINITY Red Apron by registering in person at the XFINITY display at the Atlanta Bar-B-Q Festival, or by visiting the Comcast on Demand Atlanta Get Local facebook page.
