London Top Foreign Destination for Spaniards This Summer According to Leading Spanish Travel Portal - Vuelosbaratos.es
A study by Vuelos Baratos, a leading Spanish travel comparison engine, shows that a majority of Spanish Internet users searched for foreign destinations during the summer months.
Madrid, Spain, October 08, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Some 60% of Internet users searching for flights this summer decided to travel abroad whilst 40% opted for destinations within Spain. These figures come from a study of more than two and a half million searches carried out on Vuelos Baratos (www.vuelosbaratos.es) during the summer months.
Nevertheless, among the ten most searched-for destinations, six were still in Spain. Palma de Mallorca was, above anywhere else, sought out by the greatest number of users. In general, Spanish island locations were the most requested option along with some other coastal destinations, and, of the 10 most popular places in Spain, 8 belonged either to the Balearic Islands, Canary Islands or the coast of Andalusia.
The first choice destination in Spain was the Balearic Islands. According to Vuelos Baratos up to 26% of all searches were for either Mallorca, Ibiza or Menorca. The second most popular destination was the Canary Islands, which received 13% of searches, followed by Barcelona (10.4%), Madrid (9.31%) and Malaga (4.8%).
The five most popular locations among Internet users who decided to travel outside Spain were London, Bucharest, Paris, New York and Rome. Among those who were looking to travel to European destinations 12% chose London, followed by Bucharest (8%), Paris (7.7%), Rome (5.2%), Amsterdam (3.9%) and Malta (2%). Those who chose to travel outside of Europe opted first for New York (8.9%), followed by Lima (4.5%), Buenos Aires (4%), Havana (3.8%), Quito (3, 5%) and Santiago de Guayaquil (3.2%).
