Fisher & Phillips LLP Adds Attorney to Atlanta Office
Experienced labor and employment lawyer to benefit clients.
Atlanta, GA, October 09, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Fisher & Phillips LLP announces that attorney Michael Elkon has joined the firm as Of Counsel in the Atlanta office. Fisher & Phillips is one of the nation’s leading law firms in the field of labor and employment law focused on representing employers.
“Michael immediately brings value to our clients because of his experience working with many businesses in a variety of industries,” said Tom Rebel, managing partner of the firm’s Atlanta office. “While Michael helps employers with a broad array of labor and employment matters, he has particular expertise in helping clients protect their trade secrets and customer relationships. That’s an area of growing importance to employers today.”
Because of Elkon’s expertise in helping to protect employers’ confidential information and customer relationships through the use of restrictive covenants, he worked with the Georgia Legislature on the state’s new non-compete statute and appeared before the House Judiciary Committee regarding the bill during the 2009 General Assembly. He also has written extensively on non-compete and non-solicitation provisions and other covenants meant to protect a company’s vital information and relationships.
Elkon also is experienced in employment counseling and litigation, including cases regarding employment discrimination statutes, such as Title VII, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Americans with Disabilities Act and Family and Medical Leave Act.
Before joining Fisher & Phillips, Elkon was Of Counsel at Seyfarth Shaw LLP, where he was a member of the firm’s Litigation Department. He has represented business clients in a wide variety of complex commercial litigation, trade secrets protection and other employment issues.
Committed to educating clients about employment issues, Elkon has presented programs on non-compete and non-solicitation agreements, protecting employers’ confidential information and customer relationships and immigration compliance in the workplace.
Elkon was listed in Georgia Super Lawyers - Rising Stars in 2010 and 2011. He received his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law and a bachelor of arts degree (with high distinction) from the University of Michigan.
