Best-Selling Authors Gather for Birmingham’s Largest Literary Event
The Birmingham chapter of the Romance Writers of America (RWA), Southern Magic, will host more than twenty authors, publishers, and editors at the eighth annual Readers’ Luncheon on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at the Harbert Center in downtown Birmingham.

Best-Selling Authors Gather for Birmingham’s Largest Literary Event.
The Birmingham chapter of the Romance Writers of America (RWA), Southern Magic, will host more than twenty authors, publishers, and editors at the eighth annual Readers’ Luncheon on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at the Harbert Center in downtown Birmingham.
The luncheon will feature USA Today Best-Selling author of contemporary and historical romances, Victoria Dahl. Dahl’s fast-paced and funny fiction has earned her rave reviews from Publishers Weekly and the Romantic Times, and her books have been won industry awards. Joining Victoria will be New York Times Best Seller Christy Reese, award-winning young adult author Jennifer Echols, and fifteen other popular authors from Alabama and the Southeast, including JF Lewis, Margaret Fenton, Rosemary Clement-Moore, and Christie Craig. This year, Lou Anders of Pyr Books and Stephanie Taylor from Astraea Press will also be in attendance.
A portion of the proceeds for this year’s event will go to the Desert Island Supply Company (DISCO), a local organization that promotes literacy and writing workshops for area youth. Southern Magic will also present a workshop with DISCO for area teens on October 15, 2001.
The event includes door prizes, free books, and opportunities to talk with the authors, editors, and publishers in attendance. The luncheon starts at 11 a.m. and costs $30 to attend. A multi-author book signing will follow the keynote address. Southern Magic promotes excellence in romantic fiction and provides support and assistance for local writers within the romance publishing industry. The group meets every fourth Saturday at the Homewood Public Library for workshops and presentations about the craft and business of writing professionally.
