Egyptian Expatriates Condemn the Handling of the Maspero Demonstration on October 9th and Call for an Immediate Investigation and Swift Punishment for Those Involved

We, the Egyptian Expatriates, condemn the government handlings of the Maspero demonstration on October 9th. There must be an immediate investigation where the responsible parties are held accountable and convicted. It is our resolve to help Egypt remain on the path of progressive development as the center of peace and tolerance in the region.

Silicon Valley, CA, October 12, 2011 --(PR.com)-- In light of the shameful and senseless violence that our families, friends, and neighbors were faced with, directly or indirectly; and as most Egyptians inside and outside of Egypt endured in disbelief; we the undersigned, The Egyptian Expatriates, condemn in the strongest terms possible the manner in which the Egyptian authorities handled the Maspero demonstration on October 9th. It is our resolve to help Egypt remain on the path of progressive development as the center of peace and tolerance in the region.

Our Position on the October 9th Incident:

- We condemn the government handlings of the Maspero demonstration on October 9th. It is unfathomable after the January revolution that the Egyptian military would open fire indiscriminately on peaceful Egyptian citizens, even if they were intermixed with the paid thugs that have typically managed to ruin such civil and peaceful demonstrations.

- There must be an immediate investigation where the responsible parties among the army, fanatics, and financiers of such thugs are held accountable and convicted.

- As a result of his declarations, acts, and sheer incompetence, the Governor of Aswan must be removed from his post and investigated as a direct factor of starting such violence. All perpetrators of the heinous burning and ransacking of the Edfu church should of course be brought to justice.

We are closely monitoring and are very much invested in the development, future, and rights of all Egyptians. We urge our families, friends and neighbors in Egypt to stay committed to peaceful resolution and not to pay attention to the ridiculous claims that question the unity of Egypt.

God Bless Egypt … forever united.
