The First Step for the Next Step Foundation is an Open House

New Terre Haute non-profit purchases a facility and has plans to open a residential treatment facility for women serious about recovering from addiction in the Wabash Valley.

Terre Haute, IN, October 13, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Next Step Foundation announced today that it has purchased a facility at 6th and Washington in Terre Haute to be utilized as a sober living residence for women and will be holding an Open House on Wednesday October 19th from 5:00-7:00 PM. Members of the community can get a tour of the building and learn more about the non-profit organization and its plans to assist those looking for a way out of the drug culture.

“This entire thing is a result of a bunch of individuals that just wanted to make a difference by helping women at our local homeless shelter,” said Linc Hobbs, president of the new 501c3 organization. “Almost two years ago, we started a small running program at a local shelter and we all learned first-hand that there are not too many options available for women who are serious about taking the ‘next step’ in their recovery from substance-abuse and we just wanted to see that change.”

Vigo County is in the top 10% of Indiana counties in abuse of prescription drugs and overall drug and alcohol use and there are only 10-15 beds available at any time in a five county area for treatment. [1] “As a recovering addict, I know the toll that our choices take on our families, especially on our children, and a long term sober living home just for women can save a lot of lives and restore a lot of families,” said Amanda Koerner, a founding member of Next Step. “This type of facility is really needed in the Wabash Valley and we are excited to share our vision with the community.”
