2011 American Solar Energy Society Houston Solar Tour and Green Energy Fair
Houston, TX, October 14, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Each year HREG and the Houston Solar Tour showcases solar electric systems along with other forms of renewable energy. This year's tour also showcases one of Houston's growing collections of solar powered buildings. Visit your choice of 17 different projects to learn what renewable energy is all about. Leasing a solar electric system is the new trend in Houston's growing renewable energy industry. Come to the tour and find out how making your own electricity is now affordable, practical and accessible. Don't put off making a change in your life you can be proud of - talk to other building and homeowners about lowering your energy bills and become part of Houston's renewable energy future.
This year's Solar Tour buses will launch from and return to Tranquility Park. The event will be held as part of the Consumer Energy Alliance Energy Day which is sponsored by the City of Houston and many of Houston's largest energy firms. More than 7000 people are anticipated to attend this inaugural event.
After the tour visit the Green Energy Fair. A fun filled family event, you'll experience demonstrations for all types of energy and energy efficiency technologies.

The Houston Renewable Energy Group (HREG) is a volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and the local chapter of the Texas Solar Energy Society which was officially Established in 1999. HREG is composed of architects, engineers, teachers, retirees, business representatives, and homeowners.
The mission of HREG is:
- To further the development of renewable energy and related arts, sciences, and technologies with concern for the ecological, social, and economic fabric of our community and state.
- To inform public, institutional, and governmental bodies and seek to raise the level of public and government awareness of its purpose.
- To accomplish this through the exchange of ideas and information by means of meetings, publications, and public displays.
- To facilitate the sharing of information to encourage the current and future opportunities provided by including renewable energy and related technologies.
- Seek and recruit Group Members that represent the Houston‐area renewable energy companies, educators, students, enthusiasts, and other community stakeholders.
