DLR Group to Guide Tour of Denver Public School’s First LEED School Project at the Evie Garrett Dennis E-12 Campus

DLR Group will guide the walking tour of their design for Denver Public School’s Evie Garrett Dennis E-12 Campus, currently under final review for LEED Gold certification, on October 28th.

Denver, CO, October 14, 2011 --(PR.com)-- DLR Group, along with HC Development, Saunders Construction and ME Group, will guide the walking tour of their design for Denver Public School’s Evie Garrett Dennis E-12 Campus, currently under final review for LEED Gold certification, on October 28th.

The Evie Garrett Dennis E-12 Campus is a four-building, 190,000 SF complex named after retired Denver Public Schools superintendent, Dr. Evie Garrett Dennis. This 35-acre campus is shared by three different schools: SOAR@Green Valley Ranch, the Denver School of Science and Technology, and Vista Academy, a multiple-pathways center that provides career technology education to 6th-12th graders. At full capacity, the campus will hold approximately 2,000 students and 100 faculty members.

DLR Group’s design of the E-12 Campus represented a powerful opportunity to create an “energized platform” for teaching and learning that is flexible and responsive to the needs of today’s student. The Campus provides not only unique opportunities to change teaching and learning through sustainable design, but also new ways to celebrate and link Colorado’s storied past, present and future as the state maps out its future as a leader in green initiatives and sustainability.

The middle and high school buildings on the campus have achieved Net-zero energy consumption as a result of the photovoltaic arrays installed on building rooftops. Other sustainable design features include: geothermal heating and cooling systems, daylight harvesting, Energy Star-rated products and systems, high performance glazings, energy recovery and advanced digital controls.

Tour Information
The tour will be hosted by the Council of Educational Facilities Planners Colorado (CEFPI) directly after the Green Schools Summit produced by the U.S. Green Building Council Colorado Chapter (USGBC) on Friday, October 28th.
