The Arc of Luzerne County Announces Director of Program Development and Marketing

Wilkes-Barre, PA, October 16, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Arc of Luzerne County announces the recent addition Karla Porter, Director of Program Development and Marketing, to its staff. Porter is the former Director of Workforce Development and Human Resources at the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber.

The position is new to The Arc of Luzerne County, said Pamela Zotynia, Executive Director. “Karla will focus primarily on workforce development programs for people with disabilities, and as the organization grows to establish additional opportunities in the community for consumers, she will help promote them and work to grow the organization’s brand. It’s an exciting time for The Arc of Luzerne County with new programs and opportunities on the horizon and we are delighted to have join our organization,” she added.

Porter attended Luzerne County Community College and Temple University and has a background in workforce development, human resources management, recruitment, nonprofit management and marketing. She is a member of several community based veteran, diversity and employment related boards and committees and is a frequent speaker on employer branding, 2.0 recruitment and job search strategy. She is the founder of the first humane animal welfare organization in Mexico and a veteran of the United States Air Force. The Arc of Luzerne County has served people with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 1952. The organization is dedicated to providing advocacy, education and development of programs for people with intellectual & developmental disabilities.
