Creative Child Magazine Awards 2011 Product of the Year Distinction to Canadian Mom
Entrepreneurial mom wins award for interactive and educational wall art for preschoolers.
Red Deer, Canada, October 16, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Colorful Concepts’ debut collection of kid’s wall art, Discovering Shapes, has been named Product of the Year for 2011 in the Kid’s Room Decor category by Creative Child Magazine. This set of canvas wall art is very unique as it has been specifically designed to be taken off of the wall by parents and used in a variety of activities to teach toddlers and preschoolers the four basic shapes. Each set of artwork comes with an Activity Guide which helps guide parents through this process. It is this added feature that Amanda West, founder of Colorful Concepts, believes sets her wall art apart and helped her earn the title Product of the Year. “Not only is my artwork appealing for small children due to the simple images and preschooler content, but the fact that the artwork turns into something children are allowed to touch, play with and have fun learning with makes my product popular with parents and kids alike,” she says.
Every year Creative Child Magazine holds an organized review event in Henderson, Nevada, where parents and early education professionals sit down and review each product. Over the course of two days over a hundred guest reviewers sit down at review stations to provide their feedback on a variety of products. After the event scores are tabulated and comments reviewed before naming the product that receives top honors, Product of the Year, in each category.
This year Colorful Concepts was one of the companies to have their product named Product of the Year which is extremely positive news for such a young company. “I started Colorful Concepts in 2010 after trying to decorate my toddler’s new room,” says West, mother of three boys under the age of five. “I had a hard time finding decor for toddlers that would be more than just a picture on the wall. I wanted to find something that was relevant to him. I wanted something he could look at during the time spent in his room that was thought provoking for his little mind. After all, that is what art does for adults, why not for kids as well? As he was learning the four basic shapes at the time, I painted four canvases each depicting one of the shapes for him. Together we discovered some simple songs and activities that we could do with them and Discovering Shapes was born.” Colorful Concepts is currently working on two new collections titled Discovering Numbers and Discovering the Alphabet due out January 2012.
