Cong. Limkaichong Condemns October 14 Attack -- and the People Behind It
This is the full text of Congresswoman Josy Limkaichong's official press statement re: attack on a government project site in Himampangon Road, Negros Oriental, central Philippines.
Dumaguete City, Philippines, October 20, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Rep. Jocelyn S. Limkaichong (1st District, Negros Oriental, central Philippines) has issued this statement after the October 14, 2011 incident in her district. It reads: "I condemn in the strongest terms possible last Friday’s incident where armed men purportedly lobbed explosives and burned heavy equipment used in erecting a landslide-control project, and operated by my relatives.
"This is an unfortunate incident but we are nevertheless still thankful that no one was hurt from the explosion.
"It is very obvious that the incident was perpetrated by people who are so desperately hungry for power and motivated by envy and self-interest that they now resort to committing lawlessness and violence to sow fear, thereby, disturbing the peace and order situation in the province.
"I now call upon my dear people of Negros Oriental to be always vigilant and ever mindful of what is happening in the province, and not to be fooled and misled again by people who resort to violence and intimidation to pursue their own selfish interests.
"I, therefore, now appeal to the police authorities conducting the investigation to immediately act with dispatch and arrest the perpetrators behind this unlawful act and send them behind the bar of justice.
"Finally, I would like to assure our beloved people that no act of lawlessness, violence or intimidation will cow us from pursuing our development agenda not only for the first district but for the entire province of Negros Oriental."
