The India Show: Book Launch and Knowledge Kit
Dr Rahul Khullar, Commerce Secretary and Chairman IBEF, today released the IBEF publication – The Best of India in Services– at the inaugural function of The India Show exhibition in Toronto.
Gurgaon, India, October 20, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Best of India in Services showcases the success of our services industry, their growth story which is inspiring and has scripted Indian industry’s globalisation.
The services sector has been at the centre stage of India’s growth story. Thanks to the availability of trained technical and managerial manpower, highly skilled and low-cost labour force, India has made its mark in a wide range of the services, witnessing rapid and exponential growth. India’s prowess, abilities and success are visible in almost all service sectors from traditional IT, ITES to medical tourism, telecom and more.
Between 2006 and 2010, the services sector grew at an average rate of 10 per cent, faster than the 8.6 per cent growth rate for the total GDP. Direct foreign equity investments in India amounted to US$ 26 billion in 2010. Services topped the list of sectors with a 17 per cent share of the amount.
It is not only about the growth figures, India has been moving up the value chain in some of the key sectors. Indian companies are encouraging R&D and delivering services that are centred on re-engineering and transformation. Companies are focusing on process benchmarking and harnessing talent and infrastructure to improve productivity and customer engagement. MNCs are heavily investing in India, which they regard as a source of economic growth and high-quality brainpower.
Knowledge Kit -IBEF has also prepared a special edition on the Canadian Business Presence in India as part of its bimonthly magazine, India Now, Business & Economy. A special knowledge kit, which comprises a specially adapted access info drive with business information reports across states and sectors of India is being widely disseminated amongst the business visitors and the media at The India Show exhibition.
