"Let’s Spread Joy & Happiness Among Elderly This Festive Season" - Agewell Foundation

New Delhi, India, October 20, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The season of festivities is now. Giving and receiving gifts signifies that we care. But for thousands of older persons in Delhi & NCR, season of festivities is no reason to cheer about, as there is no one to care for them.
Ironically, many of the elderly in our society are forced to lead a marginalized and deprived life due to changed socio-economic conditions and various other factors. They have sacrificed all their comforts and happiness for the sake of their children & society, but today they are hopeless & helpless and thus lack spirit of festivity. Even during much celebrated festive season of Diwali, no one visits them, a few have forgotten the year when they heard “Happy Diwali” last time.
This festive season Agewell Foundation, an NGO working for the welfare & empowerment of older persons is trying to reach out to older persons, living in slums & Jhuggi colonies, wish them “Happy Diwali” and offer them complementary gifts while bringing a smile of togetherness in their otherwise dull life.
Complementary gifts include walking sticks, specs, wheelchairs, hearing aids, regular medicines for needy old people, blanket/jaipur quilts, etc. to bring warmth in the coming winter, nutritious food, Chyavanprash etc. and even token cash in desperate situations.
In its much-circulated letter, Agewell Foundation appeals that this Diwali, when you are buying or receiving gifts you must remember the elders in your family. In Delhi & NCR, there are thousands of elderly people who have no one to look after them. People have been invited to share love & concern for those elderly through Agewell by giving away their unused/spare gift articles (No Perishable) to destitute old people. Agewell will continue distribution of gifts even after Diwali till 6th Nov. 2011.
Launching the Agewell initiative “Let’s Spread Joy & Happiness among Elderly” Himanshu Rath, Chairman, Agewell Foundation said, “It would be a very kind gesture to present a sparkle of joy in the lives of elderly. Of course, it would also be our tribute to our senior citizens, living in distress conditions! In turn we receive blessings of older persons for joy and happiness forever.”
Interested contributors can deposit their gifts or mail contributions to Agewell’s office at M-8A, Lajpat Nagar, Part-II, New Delhi-110024 or donate online at www.agewellfoundation.org (Contributions to Agewell Foundation are tax exempted u/s 80G of Income Tax Act).
