Balfour Beatty Construction Names New Florida Division Vice President

Orlando, FL, October 19, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Balfour Beatty Construction announced today the promotion of John Harris to Vice President in their Florida Division, which has principal offices in Orlando and Plantation. Harris’ promotion is a continuation of the plan for long-term growth in the division.

In his new role, Harris will focus on growing the company’s market share in Central and North Florida where the company has been operating since 1968. As a new member of the Florida division’s business leadership team, he will help to create and lead strategies in core markets, with niche projects, and in value-driven delivery systems.

Harris joined Balfour Beatty Construction as an intern in 1998 and became a full-time employee as a Project Engineer in 1999. After the completion of numerous successful projects in Central Florida and North Carolina, Harris earned a promotion to Senior Project Manager in 2006 and another to Operations Director in 2010.

“John has quickly and consistently proven his ability to establish long-term strategic goals and meet them with the support of dedicated team members who see him as a true leader,” said Ray Southern, Division CEO for Balfour Beatty Construction in Florida.

Harris earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Building Construction from the University of Florida’s College of Design, Construction and Planning. He is a member of the American Correctional Association and the Construction and Maintenance Institute. Harris also holds positions within Balfour Beatty Construction as a member of the Executive Safety Committee and the company’s national Sustainability Action Plan team.
