Live Oak Bank Supports Their Community
Live Oak Bank sponsors people and pooches with their Arthritis Foundation local chapter.
Wilmington, NC, October 20, 2011 --(PR.com)-- On Saturday, October 22nd, people and their pooches are walking for a cause at Hugh McRae Park in Wilmington, NC. Although the Arthritis Foundation was originally founded to improve people’s lives through the prevention, control and cure for arthritis, their efforts extend to man’s best friend. “Most people are not aware that canine arthritis can affect dogs of any age, breed or sex,” stated Candice Fuller, Community Development Associate Director for the Arthritis Foundation’s Mid-Atlantic Region. “Studies have revealed that as many as 1 in 5 adult dogs have arthritis. Unfortunately, there is no cure, but the pain can be managed through proper diet, regular exercise, surgery and medication. Because arthritis is so prevalent in dogs there is a real need to increase public awareness; only about 41% of dog owners claim that they would recognize the symptoms of arthritis pain in their animal.”
“Since we are headquartered in Wilmington, we like to support charitable causes in our community. We hope that this event allows dog owners to gain valuable knowledge, so they will recognize potential signs of arthritis in their pets and can provide them with proper care,” commented Jim Mahan, Live Oak Bank’s Marketing Director. “Most animal owners do not fully understand the importance of regular visits to their veterinarian’s office, but this is a great example as to why they are important for the overall good health of your pet.”
Live Oak Bank will have volunteers manning a water stop from 9 AM – noon. All participants (two and four-legged) are welcome to stop by for a refreshing drink.
In 2007, Live Oak Bank started to provide veterinary business loans to small, independent businesspeople looking to expand, remodel, refinance and/or acquire an existing practice. From the beginning, we took a personal approach and saw our clients not as numbers, but as real people facing real-life opportunities and challenges. We offer big bank expertise but provide personal attention to all of our customers to ensure their long-term success. It worked - for us as well as our clients - and we expanded our veterinary funding programs to serve the needs of private pharmacies and dental offices across the country.
