Smart Moms Owner is Career Woman of the Year
Smart Moms' Garla Smith named Career Woman of the Year by Business and Professional Women group.
Cary, NC, October 20, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Smart Moms is pleased to announce that Garla Smith has been selected the 2011 Career Woman of the Year by the Raleigh Federation of Business and Professional Women (BPW/Raleigh).
This honor is bestowed upon women who exemplify personal career success, dynamic leadership qualities and the unique ability to serve as a role model.
Ms. Smith is owner and president of Smart Moms, a Cary, NC, based company that helps businesses fill part-time, telecommuting and contract positions with skilled moms. Smart Moms also provides resources such as interviewing skills, resume writing and networking opportunities for moms who are re-entering the workforce. Her passion for helping comeback moms regain their place in the mainstream workforce has led her to complete her Career Development Facilitator (CDF) training. As an Adjunct Instructor at Wake Technical Community College she teaches job searching and employability skills to job seekers of all walks.

Past Career Woman of the Year nominees and winners have been physicians, educators, executives, politicians, lawyers, artists, human service workers, entrepreneurs, and law enforcement officers.
Ms. Smith will be recognized as BPW/Raleigh’s 2011 Career Woman of the Year at an award dinner taking place on October 25, 2011, 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Brier Creek Country Club, Raleigh, NC.

Prior to co-founding Smart Moms, Ms. Smith was a Manufacturing Engineer for Hewlett Packard and Applied Materials. She received a BS in Mechanical Engineering and earned her MS in Mechanical Engineering (Concentration Manufacturing) from North Carolina A&T University.
