Tampa Residents Gear Up for Wacky Bike Race Around the City
Nearly 200 are expected to ride, race and roam Tampa all while on bicycles.
Tampa, FL, October 21, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Urban Bike Adventure is a zany bike race made up of obstacle-dodging, scavenger-hunting and road-racing events. The adventure tour hits the streets of Tampa as its final stop on Saturday, Oct. 29, and nearly 200 participants are expected. Racers will compete in teams of two or three to post the fastest time in completing checkpoints and earn top prizes.
This is the inaugural year for the Urban Bike Adventure created by Jason Kelly, a Tampa-based entrepreneur hoping to bring the Floridian spirit of adventure to every city his race visits. The tour includes ten major cities throughout the country, including Minneapolis, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, Baltimore, Washington, D.C. and Miami.
The Urban Bike Adventure is designed for participants of all skill levels. From the casual biker to the commuter to the triathlete; everyone can participate in this race. “Most teams participate just for the laughs and memories of discovering the city in a new way, but some will compete to win it all,” Kelly said, “either way, a lot of our participants will forget they’re even in a race and just have fun.”
Check-in will begin at 10 a.m. on Oct. 29 at Four Green Fields Irish Pub at 205 W. Platt St. Online registration is available at www.urbanbikeadventure.com. Halloween costumes are welcome and encouraged.
