Seward & Kissel LLP Names Nick Katsanos as Counsel
New York, NY, October 21, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Seward & Kissel LLP (www.sewkis.com) is pleased to announce that Nick Katsanos, a member of the Firm’s Business Transactions Group, has been elected as Counsel to the Firm effective October 1, 2011. He was previously an associate at the Firm.

Mr. Katsanos works with public and private companies, investment funds, business owners and managers in connection with a variety of business transactions, financings and general corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity and venture capital transactions, strategic alliances and PIPEs. His outstanding work in the middle-market M&A category was recognized by The Legal 500 among its rankings of recommended lawyers.
Since joining Seward & Kissel in 2008, Mr. Katsanos has taken a leading role on a number of significant transactions for the Firm’s clients, including: the 2011 merger of e-commerce software companies hybris AG and iCongo, Inc. in a buyout sponsored by HuntsmanGay Global Capital; the 2011 merger of shipping companies OceanFreight Inc. and DryShips Inc.; the 2010 private equity financing of institutional fixed income broker-dealer KGS-Alpha by Arsenal Capital; the 2010 acquisition by investment manager Sprott Inc. of natural resource investment manager/broker-dealer The Global Companies; the 2010 sale of heavy construction contractor Judlau Contracting to Obrascon Huarte Lain S.A.; and a series of acquisitions by UBM plc, including communications services provider Virtual Press Office Inc., forestry information provider RISI, Inc., the electronic shipping container marketplace JOC Exchange, market intelligence tool provider CenTradeX, and tradeshow businesses Catersource and DesignCon.
Prior to joining Seward & Kissel, Mr. Katsanos worked in-house as Vice President and Associate General Counsel with UBM plc, a London-based global media company, during which time he worked on evaluating and completing acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, investments and strategic alliances, and provided legal counsel to its news distribution, professional media, events and market research divisions.
Nick Katsanos received a B.S. degree, magna cum laude, from New York University's Stern School of Business in 1996, and a J.D. degree from New York University School of Law in 1999. He is admitted to practice in New York and is a member of the New York City Bar Association.
