National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship Presents Impact Awards at 9th Annual Conference

Springfield, MA, October 22, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Six community college professionals were honored for their work in entrepreneurship education at the 9th Annual Conference of the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE), held last week in Portland, OR. A student essay contest winner was also recognized at the event, which drew more than 440 attendees to celebrate the theme of “The Impact of Entrepreneurship.”

“The Impact Award winners were recognized for their good works, leadership and entrepreneurial spirit,” said NACCE Executive Director Heather Van Sickle. “These NACCE members are working hard to help people in their communities achieve their entrepreneurial dreams. Through their work, they are truly having an impact on their communities and on people’s lives.”

The Impact Award categories and the winners are:
- Entrepreneurial President – Dr. Jack Huck, President, Southeast Community College, Lincoln, NE
- Faculty – Andrew Lambert, Professor of Business and Marketing, Ivy Tech Community College, Bloomington, IN
- Educational Approach – Christoph Winkler, Associate Director, Institute for Virtual Enterprise, Kingsborough Community College, Brooklyn, NY
- Global Perspective – Glenn Doolittle, Professor of Global Business and Entrepreneurship, Santa Ana College, Santa Ana, CA
- Youth Impact – Matthew Hampton, Entrepreneurship Consultant, Mid-South Community College, West Memphis, AR
- Melissa Moreno, Director, Scheinfeld Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Santa Barbara City College, Santa Barbara, CA

This year’s Student Essay Contest winner was Virginia Rangel, a student at Feather River College in Quincy, CA. Rangel, who hopes to become a journalist, wrote an inspirational essay about how joining the Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) club at Feather River and then becoming its president radically improved her vision of what she could become.
