San Diego South County Chamber Names New Executives
San Diego, CA, October 22, 2011 --(PR.com)-- South County’s regional chamber of commerce announced the addition of two members to the Board of Directors and named Regina Ong Garcia as the non-profit corporation’s Vice President.
The San Diego South County Chamber of Commerce welcomed Merlyn Baker of Chula Vista to the Board as Vice President of Finance. Ms. Baker, who has served in accounting department manager for corporations such as Sanyo, PETCO, and Quantum Design, will oversee the non-profit corporation’s finances.
The Chamber also elected small business owner and entrepreneur Kevin Barnick of San Diego to serve as a member of the Board of Directors. “We need to think of ideas never thought of. We need to be innovative...Here at the San Diego South County Chamber of Commerce, we can create new business opportunities to help move businesses forward," said Barnick. The move comes after the Board’s decision to expand the number of Director seats in order to keep up with the growth and demand of the Chamber.
Filling the seat vacated by current Chamber President David Joy is small business owner, real estate broker, and inventor Regina Ong-Garcia of Chula Vista. Ms. Ong-Garcia serves as the Vice President of the local chapter of the Asian American Real Estate Association (AAREA) and was recently appointed by the Chula Vista City Council to the Growth Oversight Management Commission. “We need to bring the community and business together to help jump start the economy. My specialization in technology can help businesses better market their products and services,” said Ong-Garcia.
