Integration of Manufacturing Execution Systems Major Opportunity for Manufacturers, Per To-Increase

Blog post reveals bottom-line benefits of more complete system integration.

Norwell, MA, October 25, 2011 --(PR.com)-- To-Increase, a provider of Microsoft Dynamics solutions for Industrial Equipment Manufacturers (IEM), discusses the benefits of integrating Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) with other systems, ranging from Enterprise Resource Planning to Product Lifecycle Management, in a new blog post.

The recent integration buzz from manufacturing has been over the integration between Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems. But at the end of the day, the goal for manufacturers is not to get systems talking, but to improve bottom-lines.

"Improving manufacturing's bottom-line will require us to improve our processes, achieve greater visibility into our supply chains and effectively communicate in real-time with our teams across the globe," states Luciano Cunha, Global Industry Director, To-Increase. "And achievement of this objective will come to us much more quickly if we start to think about integration in a much larger way."

Earlier this year, Stephanie Neil of Manufacturing Automation wrote that Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) must fit into manufacturing's integration equation. Historically, MES has been seen as an isolated application for managing flow on the factory floor. But today, as Neil writes, MES also takes orders from ERP, keeps tabs on inventory in the warehouse, and monitors packaging before it is pushed out the door to distribution.

"What Neil teases at in discussing MES integration is a viable powerhouse of a solution," continues Cunha. "An integrated system combining engineering and manufacturing that leads to unprecedented efficiency and operational improvement."

Cunha goes on to reveal several benefits MES integration means for manufacturers, including:

· More effective communication
· Greater inventory visibility
· Improved processes

"With MES integration, manufacturers can experience greater speed and management during everything from product shipment to product recalls," concludes Cunha. "And it’s this that will lead to our ultimate objective – improving our bottom-line."
