Smith Brothers Farms Partners with Northwest Harvest to Host a Food Drive
Smith Brothers Farms, a local dairy delivery service for the Puget Sound, is partnering with NW Harvest to host a food drive to provide hunger relief to those in need.
Kent, WA, October 23, 2011 --(PR.com)-- To help raise awareness about hunger in our community and ways people and organizations can work together to end it, Smith Brothers Farms is hosting a food drive Oct. 24-28. Their milkmen will collect donations on customer porches and, at the end of the week, deliver all donations to Northwest Harvest, a nonprofit that partners with farmers, businesses, individuals, schools, and other organizations to end hunger in our state with nutritious food.
Smith Brothers Farms has asked its customers to choose items with a stable shelf life, such as oatmeal, canned food, whole grain pastas, baby food, etc. Monetary donations can also be made, and, through the end of October, some anonymous NW Harvest donors have offered to match every donated dollar 100 percent, up to $250,000. All donations are fully tax-deductible.
“We have a long history of supporting the community we serve,” says Scott Highland, President of Smith Brothers Farms. Smith Brothers Farms won a Best Practices Award this year (2011) for its exceptional leadership and outstanding contributions to the community from the Kent Chamber of Commerce.
Smith Brothers Farms has been delivering premium dairy and other products throughout the Puget Sound since 1920. Located in Kent, this family dairy farm has grown to be one of the largest dairies in the West, delivering directly to more than 45,000 homes, as well as select coffee shops, restaurants and schools.
