Blue Grass Airport Upgrades Phone System to ShoreTel for Better Internal VoIP Efficiency and External Customer Service Needs
Lexington, KY, October 25, 2011 --(PR.com)-- With a dramatic increase in call volumes in recent years, Blue Grass Airport realized that it needed to upgrade its existing phone system to one that could literally ‘multitask,’ a word that the organization’s employees had become accustomed to, but it’s outdated phone system had not.
“We knew that we were at a point where we needed a better system to handle our call volumes in a way that we could still provide the best customer service,” said Amy Caudill, Manager of Marketing and Community Relations at the Blue Grass Airport. Following an RFP process with several vendors, Blue Grass Airport ultimately selected Unified Technologies as its VoIP telecommunications provider. “We were very comfortable with the product package and level of service they provided, especially when implementing an entirely new system,” Caudill continued. “It was nice to have someone dedicated to our switchover at all times for the first 2-3 weeks.”
David Heinmiller, IT Manager at Blue Grass Airport noted the ShoreTel systems simplicity as a key element to its success in their operations. “I used to have to go to four different interfaces to get one thing done,” said Heinmilller, “and now I just have to go to one interface to get everything accomplished - including adding or deleting new users and/or setting up new extensions.” Heinmiller has also heard from airport staff that they like the Microsoft Calendar Outlook integration as well as the ability to dial directly from their contacts file, without even having to pick up the phone. “I get fewer complaints now from staff about ‘how to use this or how to use that’,” commented Heinmiller. “Since the phone system is so easy to use, our employees feel empowered to implement the mobility features on their own.”
