New York, NY, October 27, 2011 --(PR.com)-- One of the larger consignments is from the Estate of Andreas (Andy) Albeck (1921-2010). Born in Russia and raised in Japan before moving to America in his early 30s, he spent over 30 years at UA working with such renown filmmakers as Woody Allen, Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola and impacting iconic franchises like the James Bond, Rocky and The Pink Panther. Highlights from the estate include: Japanese silver, wood block prints, carved ivories, furniture, tapestries, sculpture, and European style bronzes in the manner of Demetre Chiparus and Frederick Remington.
A tranquil landscape by E. Charlton Fortune (American, 1885-1969) depicts a floral foreground and a distant Monterey Bay. Fortune was born in California and then trained in Scotland and England. Returning to San Francisco in the early 20th century, she garnered acclaim for her bright, colorful landscapes and harbor scenes.
Other notable lots in this sale include Asian style ceramics, English inspired furniture, and a significant collection of fine art featuring bucolic landscapes, Italian architectural scenes, portraits and more.
Nye & Company relocated to Montclair and Bloomfield, New Jersey making them more easily accessible from New York City. John and Kathleen Nye acquired Dawson’s after his long and fruitful Sothebys career.
