The large format photographic panels, some measuring 8 feet high by 8 feet wide, were previously on view in Manhattan filling all 39 windows at Macy’s in Herald Square and on the grounds of the 1969 Woodstock Festival at The Museum at Bethel Woods. Images include iconic 1960s figures such as: Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Tina Turner, Jerry Garcia, George Harrison, Timothy Leary, Allen Ginsberg, Jim Morrison, Pete Townsend and Dennis Hopper.
“My favorite image has to be Tina Turner’s legs taken in October 1969 at the Gold Rush Festival in Stockton, California. Robert Altman is an internationally acclaimed photographer who studied under Ansel Adams and is best known as a chief photojournalist for Rolling Stone magazine.
