Locals Take Down Poker Legend Chris Moneymaker at Presque Isle Downs and Casino

Erie, PA, October 27, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Poker legend Chris Moneymaker was at Presque Isle Downs and Casino Oct. 15th to host a $25,000 tournament at the casino’s poker room Grand Opening.

Moneymaker was joined at the final table by nine lucky participants who won a satellite during the previous days tournaments. The final table was broadcast live throughout the casino as dozens of spectators gathered to watch the action. In the end Jasmin Omanovic's pocket aces sent Moneymaker to the rail.

“I was very happy,” said Omanovic of Erie, PA. “My goal was to knock out Moneymaker and I did.” Omanovic was dealt pocket Aces before the flop and then raised the pot. Moneymaker had an Ace/King and called. After the flop both players went all in. “I knew I had it then,” said Omanovic.

It was interesting to note that the top three paid positions were all awarded to area residents.

The top paid position went to Jeff Galkwoski of Pleasantville, Pa., while Jeff Wells of Union City finished second.

Even though Moneymaker is a million-dollar poker winner he was a gracious opponent according to his fellow players.

“Moneymaker is a class-act,” said Galkowski. “I was excited when I heard he was coming here and I am happy to hear that he is coming back.”

Moneymaker also played cash games with local players at different points in the day, signed autographs and took pictures.

Moneymaker will be making appearances at Presque Isle Downs and Casino periodically in the future. His next scheduled visit is Dec. 14 & 15.
