Groody to Present Hesburgh Lecture in Dallas

The Notre Dame Club of Dallas will host Rev. Daniel Groody, CSC, Ph.D., as part of the recognized Hesburgh Lecture Series. Fr. Groody's presentation "Dying to Live: Theological Perspectives on Undocumented Migration," will be held at 7p.m. on November 10, 2011 at Jesuit College Preparatory.

Dallas, TX, October 29, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Rev. Daniel Groody, CSC, Ph.D., associate professor of theology and director of the Center for Latino Spirituality and Culture at the University of Notre Dame, will present a lecture titled “Dying to Live: Theological Perspectives on Undocumented Migration.” Hosted by the Notre Dame Club of Dallas, the event will be held at 7:00 p.m. on November 10, 2011 at Jesuit College Preparatory. Drawing on his extensive work in Latin America, particularly along the U.S.-Mexico border, Father Groody teaches, writes and lectures on U.S.-Latino spirituality, globalization and the relationship of Christian spirituality to social justice.

He has authored numerous articles and books, and he is the producer of award-winning documentary films, including “One Border, One Body: Immigration and the Eucharist,” and “Dying to Live: A Migrant’s Journey.” Father Groody has worked with the U.S. Congress, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, the World Council of Churches and the Vatican on issues of theology, globalization and immigration.

About the Hesburgh Lecture Series

Sponsored by the Notre Dame Club of Dallas, Groody’s lecture is a presentation of the Notre Dame Alumni Association’s Hesburgh Alumni Lecture Series. Offered each year through Notre Dame’s network of more than 200 alumni clubs, the Hesburgh Lectures are delivered by Notre Dame faculty members nominated by their colleagues and the deans of the University’s colleges and law school. The series is named for Rev. Theodore Hesburgh, C.S.C., president emeritus of Notre Dame.
