Shade Systems Provides Its "Sail" Shade Canopies for Hillsborough Community College in Tampa
Tampa, FL, October 31, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Shade Systems is proud to have provided Hillsborough Community College – Dale Mabry Campus, located in sunny Tampa, Florida, with a custom "Sail" shade system to cover their courtyard plaza. The brightly colored two-tone Sail shade canopies designed and engineered by Shade Systems provide cooling shade relief and protection from the sun’s harmful U.V. rays for students and faculty alike.
Dr. Robert Chunn, Campus President, together with Mr. Mike Calderon, Facilities Manager, identified HCC’s need to shade the courtyard plaza and conducted a search for a suitable fabric shade manufacturer. With the assistance of HCC’s contractor on the project, Allstate Construction, Shade Systems was selected due to its proven engineering capabilities and reputation for successfully completing similar, complex fabric tension shade projects in the past, including providing electrical connections in the structural supports for lighting features.
Shade Systems "Sails" feature a signature one-point stainless steel attachment system at each canopy's connection point, eliminating the messy and confusing cables found on others’ products which need to be threaded and clamped to achieve tautness. This heavy-duty yet ingeniously simple and functional system is a lifesaver when the canopies need to be taken down in the event of hurricane or winter weather.
“We can’t say enough about how the HCC community absolutely loves these Sails,” said Mike Calderon, Facilities Manager. “They meet all our needs and they are aesthetically appealing as well. We are now getting a lot of good use out of an area that was never being used before.”
Funding for the six figure Sail shade project was made possible partially from a Student Government Association grant as a Legacy Project.
