22 Year-Old Independent Filmmaker and Owner of MJB Home Entertainment LLC to Hold Premiere of First Feature "Mozart of Rap" November 4th
Martin Bentsen, Owner of MJB Home Entertainment LLC, independent filmmaker, and recent graduate of NYU in May 2011, is holding his directorial debut of micro-budget feature Mozart of Rap on November 4th. The film was made guerilla-style, out-of-pocket while Bentsen was still attending full time undergraduate classes at NYU, quite a rare feat.
New York, NY, October 31, 2011 --(PR.com)-- This will be MJB Home Entertainment's first major film release. The film centers on Rob Jones and his discovery of Darelle Sylva, an artist who writes rap lyrics to symphonic music. Rob and Darelle begin performing this symphonic rap at a local club, but are met with anger and jealousy from their peers. The film explores the question of the merging of musical genres, a relevant issue in the modern age of Web 2.0 and social media. Can rap and symphony, two completely different styles of music, be combined successfully? Or more interestingly, what happens when passionate musicians feel that their genres are being violated?
Bentsen’s film has been hailed an “extraordinary feat,” by Karl Bardosh, professor of Film/Television at New York University. Despite limited funds and other challenges a new filmmaker experiences, Mozart of Rap can only be seen as a product of Bentsen’s sheer perseverance. That perseverance is paying off, as the cast and crew prepare to celebrate the film’s first public screening and progression into competitive distribution phase.
Under company name MJB Home Entertainment, Bentsen is currently working on his second feature film entitled Dakota, which boasts a 350K budget and is scheduled to enter principal photography in January of 2012. He has also written a third screenplay which has been accepted into the Tisch Screenplay Bank, an annual publication of loglines from NYU filmmakers that is distributed to industry executives for optioning.
The Mozart of Rap premiere is open to the press, but an RSVP is required. To attend, please visit http://www.mozartofrap.com/ and submit a contact form or send an email to press@mozartofrap.com expressing your interest.
