GeoCheckpointing.com Introduces Free Online Navigation for Smartphones
Prague, Czech Republic, November 01, 2011 --(PR.com)-- GeoCheckpointing.com introduces beta version of a new online navigation for GeoCheckpointing users who prefer to use a smartphone instead of a GPS device. This application, called GeoCheckpoint Finder, makes finding the GeoCheckpoints much easier.
It requires no installation, users just need to launch a browser and navigate to http://m.geocheckpointing.com. The navigation can be used for free by all GeoCheckpointing members. It works with any browser supporting HTML5 (all modern browsers support this technology).
Users can enjoy following features:
1. set the GeoCheckpoint coordinates and use the arrow to navigate,
2. save multiple GeoCheckpoints including all details (coordinates, GeoCheckpoint name, number, type and description, terrain difficulty),
3. display saved GeoCheckpoints on Google maps,
4. navigate to the saved GeoCheckpoints using the arrow,
5. watch the current location, distance to the target, accuracy, heading and azimuth,
6. works even without GPS (with limited accuracy -- it uses cell towers or wifi to locate user),
7. supporters can download nearest GeoCheckpoints from the server and navigate using the arrow or Google maps,
8. display the distance of the nearest and/or saved GeoCheckpoints.
What is GeoCheckpointing?
GeoCheckpointing is a worldwide outdoor game where participants use a GPS device or a map to find control points called GeoCheckpoints. The goal of every GeoCheckpoint is to lead them to some interesting place. Some GeoCheckpoints are placed in a beautiful nature while others can be found in charming corners of cities. These control points have size of 6 centimeters by 8 centimeters and contain the 3-letter code. Users find the GeoCheckpoint, note the code and use it to log their visit at GeoCheckpointing website.
GeoCheckpoints are placed all over the world. Most of them can be found in Europe, however, this outdoor game becomes popular in Canada, USA and New Zealand too. Every user can place new GeoCheckpoints for others.
