Alliance for Climate Education Reaches 1 Million High School Students
National leader in high school climate education surpasses major milestone in two years.
Oakland, CA, November 09, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Alliance for Climate Education (ACE), the nation’s leading high school climate education organization, today announced that ACE has educated one million high school students with their award-winning multimedia assembly program since mid-2009.
“In just two years, ACE has gone from an idea to the national leader in high school climate education,” said Bill McKibben, founder of 350.org, award-winning author, renowned environmentalist and educator. “Thanks to ACE, one million young Americans have been educated with climate science that sticks. It’s an incredible program that fills a void in our nation’s climate literacy—and will lead a generational shift to help solve climate change.”

Since field work began in 2009, ACE has also surpassed the following milestones:
·1,500 schools visited nationwide.
·35,000 students involved in Action Teams, or environmental clubs, at 900 schools nationwide.
·140,000 DOTs pledged, or commitments to Do One Thing to help the environment and cool the climate.
·1,200 high school students attended leadership trainings—one-day intensive workshops to help students lead environmental projects.
Beyond raw numbers, ACE has also achieved impressive qualitative success:
·Awarded the 2011 Climate Change Communicator of the Year Award from George Mason University.
·Contributed to a 58% improvement in climate science understanding, according to a survey conducted with Chicago Public Schools.
·Received overwhelming teacher feedback; 97% of teachers rated the ACE experience better than other high school assembly programs.
·Sponsored student leaders to speak about carbon-cutting projects at the White House, Clinton Global Initiative, PowerShift, SV Forum and much more.
·Earned hundreds of rave reviews from teachers, students, administrators, parents and leaders like the Dalai Lama, Van Jones, Bill McKibben and Majora Carter.
