Sandlot, LLC Named Self-Sustaining HIE Initiative in Recent Report
The clinical health information technology company is a sustainable HIE initiative according to a new eHealth Initiative report.
Fort Worth, TX, November 04, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Sandlot, a clinical health information technology company founded by practicing physicians, has been recognized for creating a self-sustaining HIE initiative, according to the recent eHealth Initiative (eHI) report, “Health Information Exchange: Sustainable HIE in a Changing Landscape.”
Out of 196 initiatives surveyed, Sandlot’s North Texas HIE is one of 24 HIE initiatives identified by eHI to be self-sustaining meaning HIEs selected for the report are funded and maintained through sources that are directly attributable to its advantages. The continual stream of clinical patient data into Sandlot’s HIE makes it more valuable to providers and other healthcare professionals who access it daily for insights regarding population health and quality improvement trends.
Sandlot’s physician involvement at all levels, including product development, leadership, and governance, has ensured optimal workflow integration and helped drive higher levels of adoption and use among community physicians, which contribute to Sandlot’s self-sustaining state.
“We are pleased to be recognized by eHI as a sustainable HIE initiative,” said Kimberly Alise, Sandlot CEO. “For our customers, we realize that sustainability is a critical part of the value they derive from Sandlot. We continue to focus on implementing new products and enhancements that advance HIE and expand our services for physicians, hospitals and care providers. With their support, we are working together to enhance clinical decision making and overall patient care efficiencies.”
Sandlot’s self-sustaining HIE model gives healthcare providers the products and value-added services they need for improved coordination of care, including data analytics and decision support tools that promote measureable improvement in quality management. Nearly 2 million patients are participating in Sandlot’s flagship HIE implementation in North Texas, and the company has plans for expansion to the South Texas area, as well as other parts of the country by the end of the year.
By drawing participation from all community stakeholders, physicians, hospital systems and payers, Sandlot is able to achieve the sustainability needed for a successful, long-term HIE implementation which has been demonstrated to have a positive impact on care delivery.
