The American National Catholic Church Announces Ordination of Two Priests
The American National Catholic Church, an independent Catholic community, is announcing the Ordination to Priesthood of two individuals, Rev. Mr. Phillip Lichtenwalter and Rev. Mr. Bill Freeman on Saturday, Nov 19, 2011 at Trinity Episcopal Church, St Louis, MO 63108.
Saint Louis, MO, November 05, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The American National Catholic Church is overjoyed to announce the ordination of Phillip Lichtenwalter and William Freeman to the priesthood of Jesus Christ. The Most Reverend George R. Lucey, FCM will ordain both men at Trinity Episcopal Church in St. Louis at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2011.
Born in Lincoln, IL, Rev. Br. Lichtenwalter, OSD is currently parish administrator of St. Catherine of Siena American National Catholic Church. St. Catherine’s is a vibrant, new faith community offering Greater St. Louis the best of an ancient catholic tradition in tune with the needs of contemporary believers. The parish has an intentional outreach to the marginalized and forgotten. He is also a solemnly professed member and founder of the Order of St. Dominic, the Dominican expression of religious life in American National Catholic Church.
Rev. Lichtenwalter earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Social Science from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota, a Master of Arts in Theology from the Aquinas Institute of Theology in St. Louis and a Master of Divinity from St. John the Beloved Seminary.
“Having recognized a call to priesthood in elementary school, I identify with the Good Shepherd who seeks out the lost and forgotten,” explained Rev. Mr. Lichtenwalter. “In the American National Catholic Church I have found a place to answer that call and serve the people of God who have been excluded or marginalized.”
Rev. Mr. Freeman is currently the founder and primary minister of the Fr. Mychal Judge Pastoral Ministry to the Sick in Metropolitan Washington, DC. He is a hospice chaplain working with those at the end of life, their families and caregivers. In addition, he is a transitional deacon at St Anthony of Padua American National Catholic Church in Fairfax, VA.
Originally from New England, Rev. Mr. Freeman earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Theology from St. John Vianney Seminary in New York, a Master of Sacred Theology from St. Mary’s Seminary & University in Baltimore, and a Doctorate in Business Administration with a concentration in healthcare from Nova Southeastern University in Florida.
“Our selection process is exacting and those we call to priesthood are among the most select,” stated Bishop Lucey. “The people of God are entitled to prayerful, educated, pastorallysensitive, and well-rounded priests. Both Rev. Mr. Lichtenwalter and Rev. Mr. Freeman have demonstrated the composite skills so needed at this challenging time in the history of the Church.”
“Our model of priestly ministry is truly one of service,” stated Chancellor Matthew R. Bailey, FCM. “Similar to the priest worker movement in France, all of our clergy live and work in the communities in which they serve. Our entire focus is to witness to the extravagant love of the living God and announce his Kingdom.”
The American National Catholic Church is a Catholic community outside of the Roman Catholic Church dedicated to making the world a more caring place. Guided by a presiding bishop, the church celebrates the same sacraments as the Roman Church and follows the spirit of reform initiated by the Second Vatican Council. The Church has parishes across the U.S. and a host of ministries to the alienated, underserved, and forgotten.
