Custom Bicycle Show to be Held June 23, 2012 at 4th Annual Sacramento Swingtime Festival

Fourth Annual Sacramento Swing Time festival recently announced the addition of a The Kustom Bike Show (custom bicycle show), to be curated by Slimm Buick, custom bicycle artist and DJ.

Sacramento, CA, November 07, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Fourth Annual Sacramento Swing Time festival recently announced the addition of a custom bicycle show, to be curated by Slimm Buick, custom bicycle artist and DJ who recently relocated to the Sacramento area (Citrus Heights). The fourth annual Sacramento SwingTime will be held June 23, 2012 from 11am to 11pm. An all ages show, tickets are $20, with kids 12 and under free. Entry into the bike competition varies from free to $7 for entry into the prize portion.

The event will be held at the Crown Plaza Hotel, with the “Kustom Bicycle Show” to be adjacent to the Pool Party, where Slimm will be spinning classic tunes on vintage vinyl 45rpm records. Live bands to appear that day include Deke Dickerson & The Eco-Fonics, The Phat Cat Swinger, Three Bad Jacks, The Cash Prophets, Jail Break, The Harley White Junior Orchestra, Cattie Ness & The Revenge, The Golden West Trio Featuring Miss Kay Marie and Patt James & The Night Crawlers. In addition to music, there will be a Pin Up contest by Bad Bones Photography, a Military Vehicle Show, Crafts Show, Vendors, a Kids Area, Photo Booth, The Low Brow Art Show and a Pinstriping Panel Jam.

“We are looking for unique bicycles, such as low riders and rat rods, and other cool customs for this show,” said Buick. “It should be a great event, especially considering the killer bike scene here in Sacramento!” There will be prizes and awards for participants and winners of the competition. Judges to be announced. Slimm is a San Francisco native, best known for his amazing music collection and Art Bikes, such as Rawhide, Rat Cycle Truck, and his latest folk art wonder, the Orange Barron. His work has been featured in Bay Area galleries, and throughout Northern California, and has appeared in the famed San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, The Oakland Museum and others. Several of his Art Bikes have also appeared in movies such as Rent (Sony Pictures, 2006) and Automorphosis (Harrod Blank, 2008) which is an award-winning documentary film being shown internationally as part of the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs American Documentary Showcase. More recently, he was a performer at the Green Priz in San Jose, and was “immortalized” in a full segment, of the popular television show, Weird Wheels (Discovery Channel).

Entry fee for the Kustom Bicycle Show is $7 in advance or $10 the day of the show, with the bulk of the proceeds to benefit local charities (to be determined). Prizes and trophies will be awarded in multiple categories including Best Custom, Best Ratrod, Best Paint, Best Art Bike, Peoples Choice and others. There will also be a Kids Division, with free entry, with certificates of participation and special awards for the top entries, as well.
