Chicago, IL, November 07, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Francine Turk: BADASS -There is nothing more powerful than creative genius
Opening cocktail reception: Friday, November 11, 2011 5-8PM.
Gallery KH is pleased to present BADASS a new collection of mixed media portraits by the artist Francine Turk. BADASS opens November 11, 2011 through January 4, 2012. An opening night cocktail reception with the artist is scheduled for Friday, November 11, 5-8PM.
“With a title like BADASS, you know you are in for something unexpected and we are thrilled to host this new and edgy collection of portraits by Francine Turk. The pieces featured in BADASS are exclusive to Gallery KH and we have given Francine the freedom to go full throttle into her vision and we are, along with her longtime fans, excited to see this gifted artist bring her vision to life here at Gallery KH,” states Lissa M. Kivisto, Director of Gallery KH.
“Portraits are a subject matter that I have been wanting to pursue for years. This body of work is a departure from my traditional figurative work in an attempt to explore the dynamic between celebrity and society. I decided to portray BADASS creative geniuses to capture the quiet confidence and essence of each individual that captures the curiosity of myself and society as a whole. I'm intrigued by their fearlessness of self truth,” states the artist.
Francine Turk is a Chicago native who lives and works in the metropolis always on the verge. Turk studied at Columbia College, where her natural talents were met by Hollis Sigler. Sigler was a painting pioneer whose personal and emotional story intersected with her paintings. Turk was profoundly impacted by Sigler’s work ethic, painting acumen and mental determination. While on her path to create works that would resonate with others, Turk was discovered at a Chicago fine art and antiques fair in the summer of 2005 by a motion picture art director, resulting in her figurative work gracing the walls of the movie set for Universal films 2006 blockbuster "The Break Up," starring Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn. This film thrust her career into a new sphere of success. From that period on, Francine has been celebrated with solo exhibitions, press coverage in major art and design magazines, various on-line art reviews, and national representation. Turk’s collector base includes, interior designers, Hollywood set designers, actors, and numerous supporters of the arts.
