Something New in the Serengeti – Serengeti Simba Lodge Opens
Located just outside the Ikoma Gate of Serengeti National Park, the newly opened Serengeti Simba Lodge sits high on the Gambasage Hill in the Ikona Wildlife Management Area, the first WMA to be established within Tanzania. With an almost 360 degree view overlooking Serengeti National Park to the northeast and the Grumeti River and adjacent Grumeti Reserves to the southwest, Serengeti Simba Lodge is a welcome addition to the area.
Serengeti National Park, Tanzania, November 09, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Not just another tented camp, Serengeti Simba Lodge recently came on the scene with an impressive reception, lounge and dining area built on and incorporating the top of a kopje. Thirteen uniquely designed permanent canvas-walled rooms with thatch roofs, solid stone foundations, en-suite bathrooms, outdoor showers and private decks offer luxurious accommodation. Solar panels provide each tent with power and hot water, keeping the carbon footprint low.
The lodge is situated right on the path of the great wildebeest migration and has year round resident wildlife. “We’re delighted that our guests so far have been impressed with our efforts,” says Navtej Mudher, director. This is the first venture into tourism for this well established Tanzanian family who’ve already made a name for themselves in transport and furniture manufacture. Mudher explained, “We wanted to do something really different, something that would enhance the special nature of the exceptional location.” The endless views across the Serengeti plains are among the most stunning to be found anywhere.
Two years in the making, the challenges of building in a rough and remote location have paid off. Initial feedback from visitors to the lodge has been extremely positive. A recent visitor described the lodge as the best place they stayed on their Tanzania safari.
