IAOP Forms Alliance with APMG-International to Launch COS-FP Training and Certification Program
Latest Among Standardized Certification Programs for Outsourcing Industry
Poughkeepsie, NY, November 09, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The International Association of Outsourcing Professionals® (lAOP®) has formed a certification and training strategic alliance with APMG-International to promote training and certification in outsourcing. The Certified Outsourcing Specialist-Foundation Principles (COS-FP) is the fourth certification in the COS family.
The association’s Certified Outsourcing Specialist™ (COS) family of certifications will now include the COS-FP certification, which is supported by APMG-International’s qualifying training program, Sourcing Foundation Principles, and its testing services. Certifications within the COS family, including COS-FP, are standardized candidate evaluation procedures for the outsourcing industry.
Richard Pharro, CEO, APMG-International said, “Successful outsourcing is a skill that is of strategic significance to the organization. Done well, it can add significant benefit but when things go wrong the impact can be catastrophic. It has been a pleasure to work with IAOP to develop this new certification for sourcing professionals. Now that the certification is launched we encourage people to improve their knowledge and extend their skill base by becoming competent outsourcing professionals.”
The COS-FP qualifying two day Sourcing Foundation Principles training provides professionals with a basic knowledge of what the main concepts of outsourcing and sourcing governance are and how they can be applied. Additionally the Sourcing Governance Foundation course has been mapped to the Outsourcing Professional Standards (OPS) and accredited with 25 points towards the COP certification, 15 CEH’s towards COP recertification, and inclusion in the Outsourcing Professional Course Catalog.
“We are very pleased to collaborate with APMG-International on the COS-FP certification,” said IAOP CEO Debi Hamill. “Through alliances like this, IAOP is able to enhance the scope of its training and certification program as well as broaden the program’s reach to the industry as a whole.”
Building on the COS Program
While IAOP’s Certified Outsourcing Professional® (COP) program is targeted for business leaders and operational management involved in the outsourcing industry, the Certified Outsourcing SpecialistTM (COS) family of designations is geared toward individuals involved in the delivery of outsourced services. Although the primary intention is to serve the need of the provider community, certifications in this family may be created to meet customer and advisor need as well.
An outsourcing professional who has earned the Certified Outsourcing Specialist-Foundation Principles (COS-FP) is an individual who has exposure to and general knowledge of basic practices and skills needed to design, implement, and manage outsourcing relationships with a high probability of achieving the intended business outcomes.
