NBA Players & Celebs Brought Pro Basketball Action to Atlanta Fans for Hawks' Damien Wilkins Monster Slam Exhibition Game
NBA players, RHOA's NeNe Leakes, and Grammy Award winning producer, Drumma Boy participated in Hawks' Damien Wilkins' Monster Slam Exhibition Game in Atlanta to benefit the Boys & Girls Club.
Atlanta, GA, November 10, 2011 --(PR.com)-- NBA player and Boys & Girls Club Alum, Damien Wilkins gave Atlanta fans the chance to see pro basketball action in the midst of the ongoing NBA lockout at his Monster Slam Exhibition Game on Saturday, November 5th. Top NBA players came out to support Damien’s mission to raise funds for the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Atlanta, and show how much they’re ready to get back on the court.
The day kicked off with a free pregame fan fest, including Monster DJs, free haircuts, contests and photos. Grammy nominated producer and former high school standout basketball player, Drumma Boy coached Damien’s team to victory, while Real Housewives’ star, NeNe Leakes kept her team in stitches. On one time out, NeNe asked her team “Are we playing offense or defense right now?” Monster DJ and top V103 radio personality, Greg Street served as the game’s MC.
As the lockout drags on with no end in sight, players proved their commitment to showing their fans their appreciation. Lou Williams told the team on the way onto the court, “Let’s play like we’re in a real game. Let’s get a good two hour workout.” Both teams did exactly that and the highly competitive game went to the end with a 3 point win for Drumma Boy’s team. Lakers’ Shannon Brown said, “Ain't nothing like being in great basketball shape. It was great to get out there and play some 5 on 5 and get a rhythm going.”
Pop Soul sensation, Karmella Daniel wowed the crowd with her rendition of the National Anthem, while Ludacris’ R&B group “Untitled” gave a rousing performance during half time. Celebrity barber Bobby Henderson (Nas, J. Cole, Ludacris, Gucci Mane, Soulja Boy) cut children’s hair during the game which was an added bonus for attendees and had many waiting their turn from tip off to the conclusion of the game.
