UrtheCast wins the T-Systems Cloud Computing Challenge, as part of the first annual GMES Masters Competition.
Munich, Germany, November 11, 2011 --(PR.com)-- UrtheCast is proud to announce that they are the winners of the T-Systems Cloud Computing Challenge as part of the first annual GMES-Masters competition.
The GMES Masters competition rewards the best projects and business ideas for a GMES commercial service, with the aim to support the development of GMES related entrepreneurship in Europe. The competition was initiated by the European Space Agency (ESA), the Bavarian Ministry of Economy, the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and T-Systems.
More than 100 ideas were submitted in 5 categories: Best Service Challenge, Ideas Challenge, ESA App Challenge, DLR Environmental Challenge, and the T-Systems Cloud Computing Challenge. The winners from each category are then entered to win the overall GMES Master title.
Competitions such as the GMES Masters are a gift to the space technology industry. Rather than breeding territoriality or competitiveness, they encourage innovation and collaboration in exciting and effective ways. To see the overall GMES Master and other category winners, please visit www.gmes-masters.com. It is an honor to have been selected as a winner along-side these other pioneers in the global monitoring industry.
The awards ceremony was held yesterday evening in the esteemed Allerheiligen Hofkirche in Munich, in conjunction with the awards ceremony for the ESA European Satellite Navigation Competition.
