Dr. Higgs was born in Birmingham, Alabama. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Zoology and Chemistry at Louisiana Tech University and his Medical Degree at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He continued his training in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery at Emory University College of Medicine. Dr. Higgs is a Diplomate of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American College of Chest Physicians and the American College of Cardiology. In his free time, Dr. Higgs enjoys skiing, fishing and golf.
